Color Dark Brown Hair

I would like to lighten my dark brown hair and also coverup some gray.
Ive tried to do it at home a few times using Loreal 9 1/2 BB. While
I like it, it has a redish tint to it. I would like to get it a
little lighter but am afraid of how red it would get.

I cannot get it done in a salon because I am in the military and have
to get my hair cut about every 10 - 14 days.

Is there a way to lighten dark brown hair without it turning redish.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Switch to a hair color with the word "ash" in it. This will give
your hair neutral lighter brown highlights instead of red or gold.

Back when I was dying my (also dark brown) hair, I had great
success with Hydrience. The shade was called 46 Driftwood/
Medium Ash Brown.
