There was a little discussion a week or three ago about Croft Mill here
in the UK closing. Latest news, straight from their office a minute ago
is that this is NOT SO! YAY! and YIPPEEEE! and all that!
I got a listing yesterday and placed a stash enhancing order just a few
minutes past, and asked. They are going on for the foreseeable future.
Keep ordering - keep them going! you know it makes sense! Hell's
teeth, where else can you get shot taffeta at £1 a metre?

Don't think so, but you could ask...

About a million miles of different stuff! They buy up ex clothing
factory stock for places like Daks and Henri Lloyd and Marks & Spencers,
and sell it to us proles for fantastic prices!

grr.... ok, Kate, you're an evil person for showing us such things and
there's no catalog or a listing of what they have....
Let me know if there's anything that yells Ashey, cuz from what I see in
the pictures on the site are nummie...
btw. the dress finially is done (with few things to 'fix' later), and I
made my point and slightly over budget.

They have a 'catalogue' of sorts... It's a most amusing list of what
they sell, all by description! no pix! And some of the descriptions
are... interesting... ;D

I've had some pretty weird stuff from them, and some that was singularly
beautiful. All worth what I paid for it and more! This is where I
bought the stuff for DH's suit: cost me £70 to make rather than several
hundreds to buy! Daks were selling off the peg jackets made from the
same stuff for £400... Graphite grey Venetian cloth (a wool woven like
satin, nice and smooth on the outside, looks like crepe on the inside).
I have some of their cotton and silk suit weight satin, 60" wide,
£2.50m. I have about 10m in two pieces, in lilac. They also do it in
pink and beige. No good for dying as the surface gets crazed. Teddy on
Margo's list tried dying some.

Looks pretty good! Just you wait until my lilac court dress is done!
I ordered some cerise and black taffeta today: 10m @ £1m and it's a
rayon/acetate mix. I'm thinking of making a sack back 18th C dress from
this.
