There is a book I saw this weekend (and of course I have no clue of the
name), but it was on the effigies of Westmister. They had a few
examples of stockings.
An idea.

I need to buy some for my town crier customer. He keeps being asked why
he's wearing football socks...

Yup - and I think he wants scarlet to go with the coat, or black if he
can't get scarlet.

If you feel like dying to match, try Triplette Arms
http://www.triplette.com/Arms/TCA_index.htm
go to Competition, then Shoes and Socks, and take a look at the
competition socks. They're white, but they may take dye, and they're
above the knee, with no noticeable knit pattern. At 6.00 USD a pair,
they may be worth a try. |

They look like a good bet if I need to dye. Thanks!
