Plain front does seem to be preferred right now, but it's not as
though the Fashion Police will come and arrest you for wearing
pleated pants... I see lots of them everyday, even in fashionable
circles.

Quality of material/construction should be the primary factor
when deciding on a pair of slacks, not whether they're pleated
or plain front.

What do you mean, "should"? I see as many pleated pants
today as plain front, even among top American designers.

So, uh, because some nameless online blogger ("M-dub") says
he hates pleats, that makes them out of fashion? Guess again.

He probably hates pleats simply because they accentuate his
huge beer gut.

Just because someone makes it doesn't mean that you should wear it. I'm
also speaking from the US and you are across the big pond in Europe so our
milage may vary greatly.

I'll type it again....

Just because a designer makes an item of clothing, that doesnt mean it looks
good or that you should wear it....

Luckily you have freedom of choice and you can wear whatever you want, isnt
that great. If you think you look good in them then by all means wear them.

Wow... you are not the sharpest knife in the drawer are you? I'll type it
again and this time slower so maybe you will understand it...

"Luckily you have freedom of choice and you can wear whatever you want, isnt
that great. If you think you look good in them then by all means wear
them."

Oh yeah and yourwrong.... "Pleats are recommended for those of a fuller
abdomen, while discouraged for those who are extremely thin."

http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/syws/menssuit/menssuitFULL.html

Also pleats came back in style in the 70's... thats enough of a deterent for
me.

Mike, Bartender just means, that whomever likes them should wear them. And
taste is something what is impossible to argue about. One likes them and the
other not. So the first one thinks they are in and the other one not.
Although in my opinion there never will be a fashioner whom would design
pants with pleats when they would not sell.

Kind regards,
François

Well, considering the responces to my question, I guess I can wear
pleated or plain front slacks, with out worrying about being arrested by
the "men's fashion police"!

Very true, and to offer full disclosure, I do own a pair of pleated tuxedo
pants.

The worst crisis of fashion that could ever occur is to wear something that
YOU don't feel you want to wear. Only half of fashion is selecting good
clothes, the other half is wearing them.

Actually, at my age, I don't care if what I wear is in fashion or
not...........I just don't want to be laughed at!
